I am sorry to tell you this, but due to several reasons I had to cancel this project, mainly because of the lack of time. I will definitely continue the project in about a year... I will upload the map soon so you can continue building if you want.

We want you!
We are still looking for some volunteers to help us.
We need:
- People who can help us building the main structures (must know about using Google Earth and SketchUp, ability to rebuild houses according to the 3D models and/or photographs)
- People who want to help us with making the streets, vegetation, and other street-level-details (Google Earth and photographs used)
- People who want to create the interior of buildings and flats (this is not a hard job, it's just a lot of work we are too lazy to do ;) you don't need any measuring skills, just a little bit of imagination that every minecraft player definitely has).
If you are interested please let me know in the comments.

Of course, there won't be a new post without a new picture:
The first post :)
It has begun: The Project Pripyat!
After I had a spontaneous idea I posted on Facebook I decided to rebuild Pripyat and Chernobyl in Minecraft - with a 1:1 scale, i.e. 1 meter in reality equals 1 block in Minecraft. On the one hand this results in many enormous buildings but on the other hand this makes it possible to rebuild the area exactly in every detail.
In this post I share with you the first results of one single day.
A sheep smiles at me in front of the cultural center.
This is 27 Kurchatov Street, 100 blocks long and 10 blocks wide.
This is the bare skeleton of the northmost building of 3 Lazarev Street, next to the telecommunication center.
27 and 31 Kurchatov Street and in the background is 23 Lenin Avenue.
This was the result of the first evening: The main place with the cultural center, the "Luk" and the Hotel, as well as the frames of the supermarket. Everything still quite shabby - meanwhile the hotel has windows and floors, and the administration building next to the hotel was added.
The famous view from the hotel. What you see on the left has now become 27 Kurchatov St.
The next buildings that will be added are the vocational school, the rest of 3 Lazarev St. and the big 16-story building next to it.
I am still looking for a suitable texture pack, so if you have suggestions let me know :)
